Fantasy Football Week 2 Bounce Back Players; Farve, Turner, Johnson and More.
Attention Fantasy Football Owners of the following players; Brett Farve, Brandon Jacobs, Chris Johnson, Michael Turner, Steve Smith and Terrell Owens. This article is for you and what to expect this week in regards to production from your players.
As owners of the above players with the exception of Brett Farve, you spent an early draft pick to obtain these players. Weeks where their production is low, your team is greatly affected. Although their game play last week was horrible, this week will be a great reminder of why you drafted them in the first place, and here’s why.
Brett Farve’s production will be hurt when Adrian Peterson has big games. When your running back rushes for 180 yards and three touchdowns, it will seriously dent your productivity from the quarterback position. This week the Vikings are playing the Lions. This game should be over by the end of the first quarter. With that said, the Vikings will not risk Peterson’s health in a game which is over. I look for the Vikings to see what Farve is still capable of and open up the offense to him.
Brandon Jacobs only had 16 carries last week, as Ahmad Bradshaw had 12. His loss of carries to Bradshaw obviously hurt his performance for the week. This week facing the Cowboys, it will take hard nose running to pile up yardage, which Jacobs is capable of. In 2008, Jacobs only played in one of the two games versus the Cowboys, but that one game was very productive. Jacobs had 17 carries for 117 yards and a touchdown. As Jacobs should be blessed with goal line carries, I look for his production to be far greater than he displayed last week.

Chris Johnson and Michael Turner are both top 10 NFL running backs and will not post consecutive bad games. Both backs faced great run defenses last week. As Turner had 22 carries and Johnson had 15, you would expect both to be near or over 100 yards rushing. If not for who they faced, they would have. Johnson should explode against Houston, and I look for Turner to produce as well against the Panthers.
Huge disappointments at the wide receiver position in week 1 were Terrell Owens and Steve Smith. Both are capable of taking a game over by themselves. Owens only getting three looks from his quarterback, Trent Edwards will have to change for a variety of reasons. Those reasons include, Owens will not remain quiet while being a non factor, he is the most explosive player on the field for the Bills, and he was not brought in to be a decoy for the other Bills offensive threats to produce. As for Steve Smith, he is stuck on a team with a mediocre quarterback, in a system which is summarized by the following sentence. Run, run, run, run, run some more, then pass. Smith is a home run threat every time he touches the ball, and Coach Fox will look to get Smith more involved in the offense.
