Week 2 NFL Fantasy Waiver Wire Steals and Sleepers

19 September 2009 2 Comments

ProFootballinsight.net has a few waiver wire last minute steals and sleepers for fantasy football owners reeling after going 0 and 1.  These gems are still available in most leagues, and if you have the space, add them to your roster.

1.  Todd Heap -TE- Baltimore Ravens.  Heap re-established why only a few injury prone years ago he was a top five NFL tight end.  Joe Flacco appeared to be more than comfortable with Heap, who had more looks as fellow TE L.J. Smith sat out last weeks game with an injury.  Smith always was given more credit than he deserved in Philly, as he never gave the Eagles what was expected out of him.  I do not expect for that trend to change in Baltimore.  Heap showed his value last week by snagging five receptions for 74 yards and a touchdown.  That stat from the TE position each week is the difference between winning and losing.

2.  Devery Henderson -WR- New Orleans Saints.  Henderson is far from the most consistent of wide receivers.  Last year, he could go two games without a catch, but in that third game, explodes for a touchdown of 50 plus yards.  Henderson is always  a threat to take a big one to the house, and appeared to be more involved in the offense than ever before as he hauled in five balls for 103 yards and a touchdown.  It remains to be seen if Henderson will improve on his consistency, but if you are down and out and need a home run threat to push you over the edge on any given week, look at Henderson.

3.  Michael Bush -RB- Oakland Raiders.  Bush appears to be on  shared backfield duty with Darren McFadden.  This is bad news for McFadden owners, but great news for anyone in search for a running back.  Bush had 12 carries for 55 yards, but more importantly, received red zone carries which contributed to a touchdown last week.  Bush has battled injuries throughout his career, but when healthy, showed that he can produce.

4.  Atlanta Falcons Defense.  Did your defense suck it up last week, because Atlanta didn’t.  They are available in over 80 percent of fantasy football leagues.  They smashed a Dolphins offense last week that the Patriots could not handle last year.  They face the Carolina Panthers this week, who only appear to have a ground game with NO air support.

This should put you in a better place this week and will hopefully fill some holes.  Have any questions, ask ProFootballinsight.net on this post or check out the contact us tab.  Lets get back on it, drop a win this week and look to have a .500 club after Monday.
