Week 3 NFL Fantasy Football Sleepers and Waiver Wire Steals
ProFootballinsight.net is back again with their Week 3 waiver wire steals and sleepers. If you caught last week, you benefited from picking up Todd Heap and a quality performance by waiver wire Atlanta Falcons Defense. Check out this weeks predictions.

I will start by saying, if anyone is calling Steve Smith or Mario Manningham sleeper or waiver wire pick ups are definitely not going out on a limb. These two are a no brainer to get on your roster if available, and are worthy of starts if you do not have a quality number one receiver. I was going to call Manningham a waiver wire steal last week, but as a Wolverines fan, I avoid picking from my heart. With that in mind, I did pick him up in every league I had going into last week, I just did not start him. Enough small talk, onto this weeks injury or poor pick fillers.
1. Tashard Choice -RB- Dallas Cowboys. If you own Marion Barber and did not draft Felix Jones, Choice will get carries in Barber’s absence. No, he will not put up Barber numbers, but will produce points.
2. Jason Campbell -QB- Washington Redskins. Campbell is available in nearly 80 percent of fantasy football leagues. If he is available, or he is on your bench and your starter is facing a horrible match up, Campbell will produce against the Detroit Lions this week.
3. Marcedes Lewis -TE- Jacksonville Jaguars. Lewis has been consistent over the past few years as an option that David Gerrard looks to four to five times a game. He is consistent and had a great week last week with three catches for 62 yards and a touchdown. I look for the Gerrard to Lewis connection to continue. If your week at the TE position, Lewis should be there for you.

4. Johnny Knox -WR- Chicago Bears. Nobody has this guy on their team, anywhere! He has quietly had 8 grabs for 152 yards and a touchdown, versus PITTSBURGH over the past two games. As Jay Cutler learns that his other receivers are not reliable, he will look to Knox to continue to perform.
Questions on who to start? Looking for a second opinion, post a question to this article and we will get back to you!

My Fantasy Team looks ok but my Wr’s are killing!!!
My starters:
Marquis Colston
Brandon Marshall
Braylon Edwards
Bench:
Michael Jenkins
Johnny Knox
Patrick Crayton
I have Marion Barber in my wr/rb slot who I might bench because of quad injury.
question 1…Should I waive Michael Jenkins for Laurent Robinson, Brandon Stokley, or Mike Sims-Walker?
question 2…Who are the 3 wr’s I should start…or I could start a 4th if I bench Barber?
Thanks I’m a first time Fantasy player and still learning!!!
Thanks for the pickup info. Who should I start among these QBs in Week 3? Kevin Kolb, Leftwich or Shaun Hill. Also which WR: Braylon Edwards, Johnnie Knox, Walker-Sims or Santana Moss?
I think Knox will have a real good game!
Cereno,
Most importantly, make sure Marion Barber is a go before starting him. Check back at profootballinsight.net for last minute updates. You do not want to start a player that could get pulled after a play or two due to not being able to physically perform. Plus, if the Cowboys enjoy a large lead, they will let Barber rest. With that said, you can never, ever bench Colston. His upside is far to great. Brees does throw to everybody, but when he is in a jam, he knows that he can throw it up to Colston, and he will go up and get it. So the three touchdown games Colston will give, outweigh the occasional lousy games he produces. Your other starters out of this group are definitely more difficult to sort out.
Brandon Marshall should be a fantasy beast at this point, but as you know has been a huge disappointment. I would not start him until Josh McDaniels makes him a vital part of the Broncos offense. I would imagine that this will come the first time that the Broncos are getting blown out and need to move the ball when they can’t with their current scheme. The riff between Marshall and the Broncos organization is killing his fantasy value.
Braylon Edwards was a touchdown short last week of a huge game, but ended last week with 6 grabs for 92 yards. Playing Baltimore this week, I do not think that the Browns will have any success of running the ball, and will be in the hole, forced to open the offense up and air it out, that is if they want to have any chance to win. Playing Braylon would be a gamble this week, but may be one worth taking based on your wr corps.
I expect Patrick Crayton to fall right in between is week 1 and week 2 numbers. Week 1, Crayton had 4 catches, 135 yards and a touchdown. Week 2, one catch 4 yards, a fantasy killer. Because Carolina likes to chew up clock time with their ground game, Crayton’s opportunities will be reduced, but I can see him with 3 to 4 grabs, 70 yards and a hit or miss touchdown.
I believe in streaks and trends, so as I stated in the article, I like Johnny Knox! He appears to be Cutler’s go to at this point, and until Marshall breaks out of his funk for you, Knox to the rescue.
I would not take Stokley, you already have the #1 Broncos receiver, you don’t want a second, unless Cutler was still there and your second was Eddie Royal, last year! Stokley is also currently listed as questionable. I like your thought of dropping Jenkins for Robinson. Robinson has been consistent and the Rams will be playing from behind OFTEN!
I hope this helps and good luck in your rookie season. Write back anytime!
FFL Fan,
Take Shaun Hill out of your thought process immediately. Until he produces a big game, he is not worthy of a start, not to mention, he is playing the Vikings this week!
Kolb and Leftwich are difficult to choose between. Kolb had a great start last week, but the Eagles are moving towards the “Wildcat” offense more. Leftwich has looked great as well, but playing the Giants this week will not be anything that Leftwich is looking forward to. I would go with Kolb this week against the Chiefs, and pray for the best.
At WR, if there was ever a week that Santana Moss was going to go “off”, it would be against Detroit this week. Based on Moss’s history, he has the greatest “up-side” of your group this week. I would like to see more than one good game out of Sims-Walker. Edwards could be huge, but is hit or miss against the Ravens. I think that Knox has been the most consistent out of this group, but if you are looking for who has the most potential, but it depends if you are looking for maximum points, or consistent players.
Good luck and thanks for the line!
Franchetti Thanks for the advice….being a rookie can be difficult so I’m making this my home for fantasy news updates and advice…so, sorry but you will be hearing more from me throughout the season LOL.
also wanted your advice on Mike-Sime Walker and his fantasy value sine Troy Williams is injured for the season. he had 1 good week so he too could be hit or miss!
Cereno,
You can bug me all season long, that is what I am here for. I want to see Mike Sims-Walker have more than one good game. I can’t remember the last time the Jags had a wide receiver that I would start consistently week after week since Gerrard has taken over at QB. There is value there, the question is, how much? If you have the space, he is a great pick up. If his first game is a sign of things to come, get him before your opponents do, even if you don’t plan to use him!
Talk to you next week!

My team took a big hit with Gore last week and now I have Fitz on a bye.. my question is.. who should I start at WR (2 spots plus RB/WR).. S. Holmes, B. Marshall, Knox, Sims-Walker or Lee Evans. I need to make a comeback this week. Thanks for your recommendations:)
Also, should I play Sproles with LT hoping to make a start this week? I also have C. Taylor if I need him in a clutch.
Thanks.
Hi Tasha,
I found this post of yours by accident. Try to post on the current weeks sleeper article, so I can find you. Next week, if you need me, place your question on my week 5 article, which will be available late Tuesday night. Onto your issues.
First, Sproles is playing Pittsburgh, so I would not play a back up running back against them, even though they are clearly missing Troy P’s presence.
I don’t like Chester Taylor either. If you could pick up Coffee or another running back, I recommend doing that. Who is available in your league?
Your WR issues.
I love Johnny Knox again against Detroit. He has a TD streak, and appears to be one of Cutler’s favorite targets.
Sims-Walker has back to back 6 reception games, and would be a good play as well.
Marshall appears to be working his way out of the dog house, but the Cowboys match up will be difficult for Orton and Co.
Holmes was horrible against Cincinnati last week, and S.D. has a better D. He will have more than 1 grab for next to nothing in yards, but how much more is the question.
As for Evans, Edwards can’t get T.O. the ball, and only hit Evans for a few yards last week. Miami has a good D. But Evans could get his. I still do not like Evans here.
I look for the upside in players and their trends and match ups.
I would start Knox, Sims-Walker, and if you can’t get a better flex option, Marshall just because of what he is capable of.
Hope this helps.
