Message to Larry Dolan, Cleveland Indians, If You Pay Them, They Will Come!

Have you been paying attention to the Major League Baseball Playoffs?  If so and your a present or former Cleveland Indians Fan, you have noticed the ridiculous amount of former Indians playing outstanding baseball.

Ace #1 dearly missed by the Tribe!

Meanwhile, Cleveland Indians owner Larry Dolan can’t figure out why the Indians attendance has plummeted since the Dick Jacobs days.  Dolan has only paid Grady Sizemore, and that is it.  The Indians produce a mediocre team year in and year out, and the fans day by day miss Dick Jacobs more and more.

The title, “If You Pay Them, They Will Come” means that if you pay the players you let go, your fans would appear in groves to Progressive Field.  With the talent you let go and is stretched across the 8 current playoff teams, you too would be contending for a World Series Title.  Think about the revenue that you would be raking in on having playoff games at the Jake, sorry Progressive Field.  It would be insane.  Look back at the mid 90’s numbers that the Jake was bringing in.  The numbers are staggering.

From 1995 through 2001, the Cleveland Indians averaged over 41,000 in attendance per game.  2002 through 2008 your average game attendance plummeted to a dismal 22,800, nearly a 50% reduction!

Ace #2 out the door!

Game one of the 2009 World Series appears to be the match up of Cliff Lee versus C.C. Sebathia.  Does that not make you sick!  Your back to back Cy Young award winners that you let waltz out the door.  There is no coincidence that these two aces helped carry their respective teams to the playoffs and beyond, and you had them both!!!

Looking further into the Indians, sorry, former Indians still playing baseball you will see the likes of Manny Ramirez, Casey Blake, Ronnie Belliard, Jim Thome, Victor Martinez….  Hopefully you see where I am going with this.

Who didn’t love Manny?

If you want to see fans in the seats of Progressive Field next year, stop making your fans watch a pleather of former Indians performing for other teams and put a winning product on the field in 2010.  Continuing to be the farm system for the rest of the MLB is getting old for your remaining Cleveland Indians fans.

Thank god for Cavs owner Dan Gilbert!
