Week 9 NFL Fantasy Football Sleepers and Waiver Wire Steals focus on Ryan Moats
Week 8 is here and gone, and now all the hype is directed at Ryan Moats. Before breaking down the Moats hype, let’s deal with the NFL Week 9 bye issues
NFL teams which are off this week recovering are the Bills, Browns, Vikings, Jets, Raiders and Rams.

Now, onto Ryan Moats.
Last week, in the Houston Texans, Buffalo Bills game, Steve Slaton, who is suffering from a severe case of fumbleitis, was benched for Ryan Moats. Moats had a huge game as he had 23 carries for 126 yards and 3 TD’s.
I am sure that everyone is sprinting to the waiver wire this week to grab Moats, as fantasy owners feel that Moats will save their season… Not so fast!
I do feel that Moats is worth picking up, just don’t start him… yet. Moats tore up a Buffalo Defense that has been shredded by the entire NFL, including the Browns!
I want to see Moats produce like this versus a quality NFL defense, and how convenient, the Texans face one this week in the Colts. I see Moats starting the game and not producing at all. I then see the Texans turning to Steve Slaton to produce, which he won’t either, unless it’s via receptions out of the backfield. If Moats does produce versus the Colts, then he could be realistically looked at as a quality starter on a weekly basis. The above should be taken into consideration with the fact that the Texans are a pass first team.
Take this into consideration.
Ryan Moats is in his 5th NFL season out of Louisiana Tech, has the following carreer stats;
141 Carries totaling 621 yards and 7 touchdowns….
The above stats include last Sunday’s game. Moats nearly doubled his touchdown total in one game, and increased his yardage total by over 20%. Do you think the Bills had anything to do with this?
Again, let’s see how the Slaton dog house situation pans out and Moats versus a real defense looks before we rush to start someone that could result in you taking an “L” in Week 9.
