2009 Cavaliers season set to open November 27, 2009 versus the Boston Celtics. Check out Lee Pozek's Cavs poem for the 2009 Championship Run with Lebron James, Shaq and more.

Twas the night before the Cavs season,
When all through Lebron’s 35,000 square foot house,
Not a creature was stirring not even a mouse.

The Air Max Lebron VII’s were hung by the chimney with care,
In hopes that the Larry O’Brien trophy would soon be there.

The Cavs were were nestled all safe in their beds,
While visions of triple doubles danced in their heads.
The Indians suck, so with Lebron in his Yankees cap,
Settled his brain ‘casuse Shaq Daddy’s got his back.

When out on the lawn arose such a clatter,
It was just Shaq making another backboard shatter.

Away to “The Q” Zydrunas flew like a flash,
Ready to deck Rasheed for the cheap bush-league forehead gash.

Now Z, now JJ, now Parker and Varejeo,
On coach Brown, on Mo and on on Bron Bron!
To the top of the NBA we must go,
All the way letting the world know.

The team is retooled,
You mustn’t let yourself be fooled.
The whole city of Cleveland has a championship itch,
The season starts tomorrow… and were gonna run this bitch!

GO CAVS!

Cavs Celtics pre-season shoving match involving Mo Williams sparks concern from "Super Fan" Lee Pozek. Lee outlines his concerns over the "Behind the Scenes" from the shoving match and more!

I saw something that was alarming to me on Sportscenter yesterday evening. You may have noticed that there was a shoving match between Mo Williams and Shelden Williams in the Cavs preseason game with the Celtics on Wednesday night. But what you may not have noticed or not known is that Shelden Williams is married to Candace Parker. Candace Parker is Anthony Parker’s sister.

Why that matters is that when you watch the clip you see Sheldon take a cheap shot at Mo. Mo Williams gives him one of those arm checks that says “check it bitch, don’t play me” commanding the respect he deserves. Then Shelden (listed at 6′9″ 206 lbs) shoves Mo (6′1″ 185lbs)….

This is where I have a real concern with what happens. Daniel “Boobie” Gibson jumps in and prepares to “represent” all things wine and gold and shoves Shelden forcefully. Lebron gets in the mix and sticks up for his teammate and fellow All-Star. That is the team mentality and grittiness that I have been waiting to see from our Cavs, however, Anthony Parker can be seen in the background with a confused look on his face. I am not sure how it came to be that Boobie is the enforcer of the team

Parker is new to the team and may not know how we roll, but he needs to figure it out! You don’t let your starting point guard get punked like that. All of our other starters have been know to throw their two cents in when it becomes necessary. Brother-in-law or not, Parker needs to toughen up out there!

Anthony’s length and athleticism may make him and ideal fit for a starting position at the 2 guard. However, remember that Delonte ”Wild Wild” West is waiting to take his spot back. Nobody doubts his “gangstaness”. Have you ever seen the movie “The Last Boyscout?” Remeber the beginning of the movie when the guy pulls a gun on the football field and blasts a guy? We know Delonte is a “shooting guard”. Parker just needs to know who’s team he is on.

Message to Anthony Parker; “Next time somebody checks a leader of the team, please come up with something more convincing than a dazed look that says”, ”is the guy thats banging my sister going to beat my ass?”

Not mad at you but we need more intestinal fortitude than what we saw last night!

Go Cavs!!

Cavs Super Fan Lee Pozek checked out "More Than a Game", the movie documentary about Lebron James. Check out his movie review and more on Cavs star Lebron James.

I was fortunate enough to recently catch the new documentary featuring Lebron James and his high school teammates. I emphasize the word “featuring” because he is not the primary focus of the documentary. He is obviously a large part of the film as he was the best player on the team, but the film focuses more on the journey that James and his teammates traveled to win a national title.

bballone.com

The true main character of the movie is SVSM’s (Saint Vincent Saint Mary’s High School, located in Akron, Ohio) head coach Dru Joyce. The movie itself is a fitting tribute to a remarkable man. I think it is obvious given the circumstances and surroundings that James was brought up around that there had to be something that kept him focused and taught him the polish that he displays today. The movie clearly displays Joyce’s impact on a young Lebron.

In addition to the coach, the movie does a good job on illustrating the bond that the players had growing up. A lot of people at some point have been part of a good team whether it be athletically or professionally and that makes it easy for the average person to relate to the extraordinary feat that these young athletes were able to achieve. The documentary does a great job of chronicling their rise from AAU ball to the #1 team in in the country and the growing pains that are associated with such a feat.

With that being said, there is no shortage of highlights! They didn’t get all of the press and hype by Lebron executing finger roll layups. Lebron James was an absolute freak in high school. I honestly felt sympathy for some of the kids that played the “Fab 5.” There is dunk after dunk after alley-oop. I think a lot of people have grown numb to James’s athletic ability after 6 years of him taking up two or three spots on ESPN’s Top 10 every morning. Some of the highlights in the movie are a shocking reminder of how astronomically good he was even as an underclassmen in high school.

If you are a Lebron fan or a basketball fan, you will like the movie. I also just finished Lebron’s new book “Shooting Stars”. They are almost identical in content and storyline. The book should take you about as long to read as the movie (1:40). The book reads very quickly and seems written by a high school kid, which was a little disappointing. There are still a couple of mysteries out there that I thought would be brought up somewhere but never materialized, such as Lebron’s girlfriend Savannah. There is never a mention of her anywhere other than in the credits in the book. Perhaps she doesn’t like the spotlight.

We are less than a week away to the season opener! I feel better and better about the upcoming season everyday. The weather is getting colder, the days shorter, and the leaves are about the disappear, which means the wine and gold are about the head into high gear!

Lets Go Cavs!!

A lot of you out there may be wondering what to expect from Cavs Corner? Well, you can expect comprehensive and thoughtful analysis of all things Cavs from player performance, personnel management, trade hype, and my personal opinion on any topic no matter how irrelevant as it relates to Cavs basketball.

This season has the most potential of any to culminate in to a championship for the city of Cleveland. Conversely, it could (although highly unlikely) implode and leave the entire city and fan base emotionally decimated, economically ruined, and the laughing stock of the entire sporting world. This season is a defining moment in NE Ohio…

Cleveland has long been the ridicule of the sporting world. Although we have come close in the past, it seems as if we always manage to screw it up or God himself seems to strike down our hopes of winning it all. Based on the presumption of divine intervention, it seems that it is no coincidence that we have been graced with a player dubbed “The Chosen One” who has been sent by God himself to end the championship drought. The planets have aligned and this is our year!

That is why I have taken upon myself to add my thoughts and observations about this potentially biblical season. I am truly excited to be a “witness” to what is about to begin on Oct 27th! In the coming days you can expect some commentary on the preseason games, a brief review on LeBron’s movie “More Than a Game”, and some thought on the chemistry of our team.

The city of Cleveland is in for one heck of a ride! So strap it up and hold on as we brace ourselves for the Cavaliers to storm their way to a title!

GO CAVS!!!

ProFootballinsight.net is proud to present “Cavs Corner,” a new feature where the Cleveland Cavaliers 2009 Championship Run will be covered and documented through the eyes of Cavs Super Fan, Lee Pozek.

Lee Pozek’s Bio:

Lee Pozek has been a life long resident of Northeast Ohio and a Cleveland sports fan for that entire duration. He currently focuses the majority of his energy hyper analyzing Cavaliers basketball. While limited in the field of sports journalism, he is an expert in team dynamics, team chemistry, and defending the honor of anything Cleveland.

As a boy, he fondly remembers singing the “Bernie, Bernie” song in the mid 80’s as the Browns consistently came with in one game of the Superbowl several times. As a teenager, his focus turned to the Indians of the mid 90’s. Obviously there was a substantial lull in his pro sports cheering endeavors as the Browns moved away, the Indians were disbanded, and it was only rumored that there was still an NBA team called the Cavaliers.

After completing college in 2001 and playing football for Tiffin University, he sat idle waiting for the next great thing to hit Cleveland sports. In 2003, his focus was renewed with the drafting of LeBron James. Since that time his energy has been 100% focused on the support of Cavaliers basketball both physically, mentally, and emotionally. For example, after the Magic eliminated the Cavs in the Eastern Conference Finals last season, he began a training regimen preparing to defend Dwight Howard himself. While hopeful that he would not have to suit up and take to the hardwood, he did begin form running, weight lifting, and a weight gain program to “body up” Dwight. This was a stressful time for him as he was confident that his basketball IQ, strength, and crafty unorthodox style of play would suffice. However, he had no idea how he would grow at least 8″ inches to have the height to defend the rim. Thank goodness for the Shaq trade!

As the NBA season begins, Lee is offering his insight, thought, and uncanny observations about the run to a championship. This should be an exciting adventure for the city of Cleveland and a unique insight to one of the most colorful minds in greater Cleveland.

GO CAVS!!
